An outdoor World AIDS Day observance will be held Tuesday Dec. 1, starting 6:30 p.m., in the parking lot of New Church Family, 3520 W. International Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach.
Organized by CAN Community Health, the free hour-long event will ask attendees to remain in their motor vehicles and hear speeches through an Internet projection. The parking lot can accomodate more than 40 vehicles.
The program will provide Information about progress in fighting the AIDS pandemic. There also will be a memorial service to remember the millions of people who have died from AIDS since 1981.
Clergy leading the interfaith service include Revs. Longo, Philip Egitto and NCF's William B. Dunlap. Other speakers include Pastor Barhoo, Rev. Tomas Greiner, Justin Bell, Matthew Carter and Valerie Wojciechowicz.
The Daytona event culminates a three-day international observance conducted mainly on the Internet. The Nov. 29 opening evening of the observance includes remarks from representatives of the Volusia Health Department, inlcuding Tony Braxton, Cynthia Ross and Michael Hall.
